Surprise win at the 100th Co-op
The Co-operative Food store in Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough was the scene of much excitement recently as local shopper Rachael O'Toole became the 100th customer of the day and won £100 of Co-operative gift vouchers donated by our Fitout division in Warrington. Rachael is pictured with her 7 month old son Ryan and Morris & Spottiswood Site Manager, Richard Magnall.
This is the 100th store we have refurbished and fitted out for The Co-operative Group in England.
"We thought it would be a good idea to involve the community in Middlesborough to celebrate our 100th Co-op by choosing the 100th customer since the refurbishment and rewarding them with £100 Co-op vouchers" says Tony Cahill, Business Unit Director of Morris & Spottiswood.
"Over the last two and a half weeks, we have stripped out all of the interior, installed energy efficient lighting, renewed electrics and shopfittings, and rebranded the entire store. The local community now have a much improved shopping experience".
Morris & Spottiswood have an ongoing relationship with The Co-operative Group, refurbishing and fitting out stores all over the UK.
The Refit Co-ordinator for The Co-operative Group Programme Delivery added; "At 9,900 sq ft, this is one of our larger refit projects. Our smaller stores can be around 1,200 sq ft. However, regardless of the size of store, we work with our principle contractors, including Morris & Spottiswood, to ensure that our refits projects are delivered in a safe and timely fashion in order to minimise disruption, and in doing so protecting the stores place as an important part of the local community".
