Group Supply Chain Manager, Hybrid Role

The role of Group Supply Chain Manager will take responsibility of the supply chain across the Morris & Spottiswood Group, supporting Morris & Spottiswood, Livingston Building Services and LLED Construction, developing and maintaining sustainable long-term relationships and Service Level Agreements.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the role will develop, deliver and implement efficient and effective Supply Chain processes and procedures and governance for the procurement and management of subcontractors/suppliers. The Supply Chain Manager will have overall responsibility to provide the best service offering and customer experience by delivering a continuously improving supply chain, in terms of operational excellence in performance, and best value. The role will work alongside the Group Procurement Team to support the development and negotiation of Service Level Agreements to provide the best value solution at all times for the business.

This role is crucial to our business to provide a solid platform for reducing risk, ensuring cost-effective procurement and formalising process/procedures for all purchases made supporting our business.

Key areas of responsibility

  • Creating and monitoring Supply Chain plan and growth strategy development. Harnessing own network and Supply Chain experience to help grow the Long-Term Supply chain relationships. Establishment and development of short and long-term targets.
  • To support and undertake business-wide gap analysis and identify group-wide resource needs and strategies.
  • Establishing regular review meetings with the Sector leads and operations and commercial teams to monitor progress and performance.
  • Managing strategic partnerships with key sector bodies and clients.
  • To provide high-quality management information and reports and deliver Supply Chain monthly reports to the board to monitor outputs and continually review improvements, risks and opportunities.
  • To use professional knowledge and experience to investigate new opportunities and develop innovative and creative solutions for the business
  • Analyse relevant Client projects / Workstreams with sufficient regularity to have an in-depth knowledge of where the project/workstreams stand in relation to the programme and to Client perception.
  • To implement and manage a KPI reporting structure which monitors performance and demonstrates year-on-year continuous improvement within the supply chain. Ensuring all set KPI targets are met and take the appropriate actions necessary if targets are not achieved.
  • Arrange and undertake regular Supply Chain engagement meetings to ensure robust lines of communication and understanding are maintained
  • Regularly review and manage Service Level Agreements and Orders to ensure Agreements are met and support any interventions when not

About you

We are looking for someone who can think innovatively and strategically with the ability to successfully lead, manage, challenge, motivate and influence others. This will be coupled with a demonstrable record of developing and implementing supplier improvement initiatives working with and influencing cross-functional teams. As an effective communicator, you will chair supply chain meetings and deliver innovative and effective presentations to clients.

You will have a natural ability to develop robust and positive working relationships with key stakeholders. You will act as the first point of contact for all Supply Chain issues; predicting where possible to head off Supply Chain issues and reacting immediately should they arise.

Ideal candidates should have a minimum of 5 years experience in a strategic purchasing role within a construction supply chain environment, with contractual experience in housing, M&E or fit-out refurbishment projects - ranging from small works up to £5m. Ideally, this experience would have been gained with a main building contractor or within the construction industry but this is not essential. Naturally, you will have strong leadership skills, excellent communication and negotiation skills with proven strong commercial acumen.

Successful candidates will be willing to attend our offices and visit site as and when the job requires, hybrid remote working is also considered. The successful candidates must:

  • Be flexible in terms of hours work;
  • Hold a full UK driving licence;
  • Be computer literate, be fully IT literate in MS Word and Excel (at intermediate level); and
  • Hold a CSCS card (desirable)
  • CIPS membership is desirable but not essential.
