For a quarter of a century, some of the biggest names in banking, insurance and financial services have counted on us to deliver a diverse range of projects. From refurbishing and modernising offices and high-street branches to full fitouts including the installation of advanced banking technology. We’ve even converted an old on-site swimming pool into a modern, vibrant office space where staff can thrive.

Our track record speaks for itself. In the last decade, we’ve refurbished over 1,500 high-street bank branches, fitted out over 200 offices for financial sector firms, and delivered over £300m worth of financial sector projects. We’ve worked on projects across the UK, from Thurso to Truro. Our dedicated financial services sector team has over 70 members of staff, all trained in customer care and financial security protocols, and all security checked, so that our clients have total peace of mind.

It all adds up to unbeatable experience. Experience that means that our delivery teams and processes have been fine-tuned and adapted specifically for this sector, so factors that such projects require as standard – such as security, confidentiality, and a smooth customer journey – are all a natural part of the process.

The sector is changing all the time and post lockdown, many of our clients are closing branches and moving their offerings online. It’s a move that our experienced team are ready for. With the increased need for digital services and to support hybrid-working, we’re seeing a lot of office refurbishments and upgrades which focus on creating healthier workplaces with better lighting and air-conditioning, and an increase in the demand for data and call centre services. We’re also being asked to help companies reach their decarbonisation goals, by introducing energy efficiency measures and delivering renewable energy installations.

Like the sector we serve, we’re evolving and adapting; we’re committed not only to retaining our existing clients, but to working with new ones, growing our team and offering and embracing new opportunities to deliver first-class projects within this exciting and evolving sector. And we’re taking pro-active steps to make this happen.

Our Financial Sector Director, Nick Hardy’s focus is to help expand our client-base in this area. To help support this, Dan Clarke has recently joined the team as our new Frameworks Director, and he’ll be assisting Nick in developing and leading our teams to ensure that they deliver the highest standards of service possible.

As Nick explains, the financial services sector is crucial to the UK’s success: “The UK is one of the world’s leading centres for the financial services sector, it’s the engine room of the UK economy, employing thousands of people around the country. In 2021, the sector contributed £173 billion to the UK economy – that’s over eight per cent of the country’s total economic output. It’s a success story that we at Morris & Spottiswood are proud to be part of, and which we’re determined to contribute to going forward. Our goal is to be the ‘go to’ supplier of fit-out, refurbishment and data-centre resilience. We’re constantly exploring new ways to support the sector and their pivotal role within the UK economy.

“I believe that we’re perfectly placed to play our part – we have a real interest in and understanding of the sector and its needs, we know it’s a job unlike any other, there are additional considerations and reasonability involved. We know that service interruptions and delays have a huge cost, so we ensure that our team have the expertise, experience, and confidence to deliver ‘right first time’ and to work under pressure to ensure deadlines are met time after time. As a company, we have all the tools and skills needed to deliver every kind of project, from office refurbishments to branch closures. We understand that whilst we’re on site our client must be able to fully trust us, so we take data protection, confidentiality, and security seriously and all of our team members and everyone we bring in as part of the supply chain is PES checked before they’re allowed to set foot on site.”
