This CAT A fitout and refurbishment of NFU Mutual’s city centre offices involved work on the building’s existing reception, office space, toilets and staircases. The project stretched from the basement to the 5th floor and included the installation of new ceilings, floor finishes, and services and extensive decoration work. Our in-house M&E division dealt with the mechanical and electrical elements of the project, working closely with the client project team to value engineer the service installation package, bringing it in line with the client’s budget expectations whilst maintaining a high level of quality.

IMPROVING THE PROJECT DELIVERY PROCESS

The structural elements of the project involved forming a new entrance foyer/reception, work that included the installation of services, curtain walling, an entrance door and a reception desk. We also infilled the building’s existing atrium, replaced central plant, installed new bicycle storage facilities, reconfigured the basement and made external repairs to the building’s cladding and roof.

To improve the efficiency of the design and build process, we engaged early with key supply chain partners. This allowed us to achieve design sign-off prior to works commencing. This, in turn, gave the client programme and cost certainty and ensured that all key supply chain partners were bought in to the construction programme at the earliest possible stage. Thanks, in part, to our design and careful planning, the project achieved a ‘very good’ BREEAM assessment.
