Yeast Storage Facility M&E

Heineken

Location

Manchester

Duration

12 Weeks

Scale

Industrial plant

Value

£60K

In a project which extended our work further into the drinks manufacturing industry, we installed all of the electrical services needed for Heineken’s yeast storage facility in Manchester. Beer has been brewed on this site since 1875, when it was opened as the Albert Brewery. It is a major monument to Manchester’s brewing landscape, and produces around 3 million pints a day, including famous beers Foster’s and Kronenbourg 1664. We also delivered a full set of M&E design services alongside the installation work.

DELIVERY

The project involved our in-house M&E team working on-site alongside another main contractor. Among the range of electrical equipment we designed and installed were the following systems:

  • fire alarms
  • data networks
  • access controls
  • lightning protection units

All the work was undertaken in a live environment, so careful scheduling and health and safety planning was needed to ensure that the facility could continue to operate effectively while we worked.
