Network Rail’s Edinburgh Maintenance Delivery Unit Office Open for Business!

This £2.2m project comprised the refurbishment of an existing steel portal framed shed and an extension to support Network Rail’s Maintenance Delivery Unit (MDU).

The unique design, by BDG Architects in York, used shipping containers to construct a mezzanine floor which provides office space for 82 desks, meeting rooms and break out spaces. The creative design not only produced a unique look but contributed towards the project’s BREEAM “Very Good” certification.

With an incredibly aggressive programme, the whole team came together to ensure the critical deadline was achieved within the client’s timescales. Network Rail expressed their thanks to the Morris & Spottiswood Team “…for pulling out all the stops to get us in and working on time…”.
