Serving up great results to the food and drink sector

With over £50m worth of projects delivered to the Production and Manufacturing sector in just six years, it’s safe to say that we know what matters to our clients. We’re the contractor of choice for some of the biggest names in food and drink and have delivered a wide range of projects including a full range of M&E, refurbishment, and construction services in areas such as production lines, office areas and warehouses.

We’ve also just signed new contracts with several more major players in the food and drink sector. As Director of Production & Manufacturing, Spencer Lee, explains, it’s been a busy and exciting time for the team, “despite the fact that these are challenging times for many, I’m delighted to say that our team are enjoying some great successes, we’ve completed several multi-million pound projects this year, we’re onboarding new clients, working on new projects for existing clients, and we’re working on some exciting new plans for growth and expanding our offering”.

But that’s not the only thing that Spencer and the team are keen to make happen going forward, he's keen to make the most of the fact that, due to Morris & Spottiswood’s structure, the team are perfectly placed to work on projects across the UK, thanks to their extensive network of local sites. “Currently we’re delivering some huge projects throughout England, and I’m keen to see that happening more in Scotland. Scotland leads the way in Europe for food production, food manufacture, and associated research and technology, and I’d love to see us working on projects that support that” he says.

We believe that the sooner we start working with you on a project, the more value we can add, not just in terms of planning and strategy, but also by being involved in the design phase, we can help you identify potential problems and address them before they can have an impact on your business. Our expertise – and the fact that we can draw on the skills of other businesses in our portfolio of brands – means that we can put together an expert team who can deliver every aspect of the job, from transforming those initial sketches and ideas into workable plans and projects.

Because strong and effective relationships with our clients are at the heart of everything we do, we’ve recently strengthened our team in this area, with the appointment of Katy Higham, our new Production and Manufacturing Framework Manager. Katy’s role covers key account management, and she’ll be looking after new and existing clients. “I’m looking forward to offering our clients added value by working with them to explore additional services and benefits that we can offer to ensure that we deliver the best service possible and take care of every aspect of their projects” says Katy. With her background in pharmaceutical production and manufacturing, Katy has an in-depth understanding of how things impact clients and, along with the rest of the team, will be working closely with clients from the offset to ensure that the things that matter to their business are factored into plans and that issues and disruption are kept to a minimum. “As well as ensuring that our existing clients are taken care of, I’m also keen to bring new clients on board, particularly those in the pharmaceutical sector, as I’m keen to make the most of my existing experience in that sector” she adds.

Taking care of our clients isn’t just about the obvious things, like maintaining safe and secure sites, keeping things confidential, and making sure downtime is minimised, for us it’s also about helping our clients realise their net zero goals and lower their carbon footprint. We’re able to help clients explore and install renewable energy solutions that work for them and their business and implement approaches that make production lines more efficient – and that’s just for starters.
