When we say & means more – we really mean it!

One of our projects for Vodafone is at their Mast Site near Cape Wrath – the most North Westerly point of mainland UK!

This project threw up many logistical challenges for our Contract Manager, Gordon Graham, when he scoped the site to identify the works required. As vehicular access for materials was not an option, due to its remote location, arrangements had to be made to get materials delivered via helicopter. The logistical issues faced at this site are an example of the many challenges we plan for as part of our planned & reactive maintenance contract for Vodafone’s Technical, Mast & Generator sites across Scotland & England.

The cabin repair works required a rather unusual solution and logistics plan to withstand excessive wind speeds (frequently reaching 80/90 mph+) all year round and access to the site is only via Helicopter or 2 hour walk over – albeit across some beautiful countryside!

As Vodafone’s fabric contractor, we worked closely with Structural Engineers - Paul Owen Associates - to develop a plan that would be suitable for the terrain. Our team and the materials then had to be helicoptered in to carry out the works – a great effort on what was a tricky project.

As our Key Account Manager for Vodafone, Gordon ensures all planned maintenance including: roofing, joinery works, elemental replacement, ME & P, decoration and ground works are undertaken efficiently to sites all over the country - but he had to admit this was the most interesting & scenic job he has undertaken... yet!
