On 25th May, the Scottish Design Awards 2015 were held at Glasgow’s Central Hotel, and fantastically two of Morris & Spottiswood’s recently completed projects were amongst the award winners.

Glasgow Film Theatre (GFT) – Cinema 3 won the award for the best Interior Design at the Ceremony. The GFT is a well-loved and treasured landmark within the City of Glasgow, however, the lack of screening space particularly affected the GFT’s International ambitions for the Glasgow Film Festival and its ability to increases audiences, education & outreach works. Nord Architecture undertook the design of a new cinema and interior space, and Morris & Spottiswood completed all works whilst the cinema was still open to the public.

Speirs Lock Studios won the award for regeneration for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, it was built to provide teaching space for students at RCS, studying courses in Production Arts and Design, Modern Ballet and Musical Theatre. Designed by Michael Fraser Architects, who were thrilled with the award and happy to acknowledge such a great team effort in producing a fabulous building.

“The award reflects everyone’s efforts, hard work and contributions to the making of the project so well done".
